Career change. Working in the family business since high school, I recognized it wasn’t my passion. As I shifted to pursue a career where I could directly help others, I went back to school for my Master's in Social Work. During this journey I realized if I could help younger people discover and pursue something they could feel passionate about then that would be meaningful for me. I’ve always loved helping others and this seemed like a natural fit.

I started my counseling career at Horizon Academy, a private school for students with learning disabilities. This opened my eyes to how intense certain struggles can be and how they can affect multiple areas of one's life. Yes, their learning is affected, but it cascades and can also affect family dynamics, social relationships, emotional well-being, self esteem, and their ability to function in a school setting. My passion for empowering youth was ignited here. Getting to see students make progress in their academic, personal lives, and family relationships was energizing, and having families share that their relationships and family peace were restored was gratifying and rewarding.

Private Practice.  A private counseling setting allows me to work at a much deeper level with individuals to explore areas that they may have been reluctant to work on go deeper than the surface level.  We can potentially work with family systems, independent living skills in the community, or address depression and anxiety.  We are not confined within a school setting or by strict time-constraints, but are able to have a longer session in a safe environment where we can work on a wider range of issues.

MEET CHARLIE

Charlie is a certified facility therapy dog. Besides being a good companion, she has the unique ability to help people feel calm and loved. I find people are more at ease when Charlie's around. When she's not busy at work, she loves long walks, scratches behind the ears, and the occasional treat.
